My first class

Three years ago in the summer of 2013, my first summer as a mom, I over-packed my diaper bag, dusted off my athletic shoes, and made a valiant attempt to don myself in nursing friendly, post c-section friendly, fitness attire. I filled an old water bottle to the brim, dug through a closet to find an exercise mat and loaded all that, plus my son, into my SUV. The voice of one of my best friends rang in my ears - "find Stroller Strides, you need to get out of the house, it is the best thing for new moms". She'd been telling me this for 8 months … and for 8 months I made excuses. That morning there were no excuses, it was time to do something for me. I headed out of my new home in the suburbs at 8:30am armed with my GPS and found my way to the Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus. I followed the instructions from the website - "park under the AMC parking deck and meet at the food court." Great... maybe we'll grab a coffee, I thought. As I unloaded my gear and my son into my snap and go, I was nervous with the anticipation of meeting other moms. REAL moms. In person! Not just the moms I'd been reading about on all the mommy websites or "connecting" with on Facebook. Real, in the flesh, with their babies- moms. I was excited... I was terrified. In I went and found the group. I walked into the circle of moms getting ready for the warmup, babies in tow with warm smiles and over-packed diaper bags just like mine. At that moment, I knew I had found my place. The instructor was happy and peppy with energy that was contagious. I was in awe of the other moms in class, with 8 week old newborns and 4 year old toddlers - they too got up and out of their house that morning, pulled themselves together and did something on a schedule. The warm up started, we began moving and in my heart I knew FIT4MOM was something I wanted to be a part of for a long, long time. I got a great workout, my baby was content and I spoke a few words to grown-ups ... outside of my house. It was the best morning I had in a very long time. The first of many on my journey to FIT4MOM Bergen. I became a member that day. 8 Months later I became a certified Stroller Strides/Fit4Baby instructor and taught my first class in March of 2014. Earlier this year the timing was right and I am thrilled to finally have the opportunity to be a franchise owner. We are all moms, we all need a village, whether we know it yet or not, and I am thrilled to welcome you to ours - FIT4MOM Bergen. ~ Suzanne
